Perks Guide

Optimize your Anime Squadron perks with this guide covering every perk, upgrade priority, Gold costs, and the best order to max them out.

How the Perk System Works

Perks are account-wide upgrades that permanently improve your performance in every game mode. Unlike gear or traits that affect individual units, perks boost your entire account's capabilities, making them the most impactful long-term investment in Anime Squadron.

You purchase and upgrade perks at the Perks NPC using Gold. Each perk has multiple upgrade levels, with costs increasing at each tier. Because Gold is a shared resource between perks, gear crafting, and evolution, knowing which perks to prioritize is critical for efficient progression.

Perk CategoryNumber of PerksPrimary Effect
Economy4Yen and Gold income improvements
Combat5Damage and survivability boosts
Utility3Quality-of-life improvements

Perks apply automatically once purchased. There is no need to equip or activate them. Every run you do benefits from your current perk levels, which is why investing in perks early creates a compounding advantage over time.

Every Perk Ranked by Priority

Not all perks are created equal. Some provide massive value from the very first level, while others only become worthwhile at higher upgrade tiers. This ranking reflects the overall impact each perk has on your account progression speed.

Maximum Yen and Yen Generation sit at the top because they directly increase how many units you can deploy and how quickly you can deploy them. More deployments mean faster wave clears, more Gold earned per run, and better performance in every game mode.

Maximum Yen: Why It Is Your First Investment

Maximum Yen increases the Yen cap you can hold during a run, allowing you to deploy and upgrade more units. At base level, your Yen cap is restrictive and forces you to choose between deploying a second unit or upgrading your first. Each level of Maximum Yen raises this cap significantly.

LevelYen Cap IncreaseGold CostCumulative Gold
1+5002,0002,000
2+5003,5005,500
3+7505,00010,500
4+7507,50018,000
5+1,00010,00028,000

The first three levels of Maximum Yen provide the best Gold-to-value ratio in the entire perk system. Getting Yen Cap to at least level 3 should be your immediate goal on any new account. This single upgrade makes every Story run, Raid, and Infinite Mode attempt smoother because you can afford to deploy your full team.

Why Yen Cap Matters More Than You Think

Consider a typical Story run. With base Yen cap, you can afford to fully upgrade one carry and partially upgrade a second unit. With Maximum Yen level 3, you can fully upgrade your carry and a second unit while having Yen left for emergency deployments during boss waves. That difference often determines whether you clear an act or fail at the boss.

Yen Generation and Other Economy Perks

Yen Generation is the second most valuable perk because it accelerates how quickly you earn Yen during runs. Faster Yen income means earlier unit deployments, earlier upgrades, and faster wave clears. Combined with Maximum Yen, these two perks form the foundation of efficient Anime Squadron gameplay.

PerkLevel 1 EffectLevel 5 EffectGold Cost to Max
Yen Generation+10% Yen rate+50% Yen rate35,000
Starting Gold+200 starting Gold+1,000 starting Gold20,000
Deploy Cost Reduction-5% deploy cost-25% deploy cost40,000

The synergy between Maximum Yen and Yen Generation is powerful. More Yen cap gives you room to save, while faster generation fills that room quicker. Together, they transform your early-run economy from a struggle into a comfortable experience.

Economy Perk Upgrade Order

1. Maximum Yen Level 1-3 (immediate, highest priority)

2. Yen Generation Level 1-2 (strong synergy with Maximum Yen)

3. Maximum Yen Level 4-5 (push toward cap)

4. Starting Gold Level 1-2 (helpful for early deployment)

5. Yen Generation Level 3-5 (diminishing but still valuable)

6. Deploy Cost Reduction (nice to have, not essential)

Combat and Utility Perks: When to Invest

Combat perks become valuable after your economy perks are established. Unit Damage and Unit HP provide universal combat improvements that help in every game mode. Critical Rate and Critical Damage are more valuable for carry units with high attack speed.

PerkBest ForWhen to Invest
Unit DamageAll unitsAfter economy perks level 3+
Unit HPTanks and frontlineAfter Unit Damage level 2
Critical RateCarry unitsAfter Unit Damage level 3
Critical DamageCarry unitsAfter Critical Rate level 2
Boss DamageBoss Rush and RaidsAfter core combat perks
Stamina RegenAll modesWhen you run out of Stamina frequently
Auto-CollectQuality of lifeLast priority

The key principle is that economy perks multiply the value of combat perks. A higher Yen cap lets you deploy more units, and those units benefit more from damage and HP perks than fewer deployed units would. Always establish your economy foundation before investing heavily in combat perks.

FAQ

What is the best perk in Anime Squadron?

Maximum Yen is the best perk in Anime Squadron because it directly increases how many units you can deploy during a run. More deployments lead to faster clears, more Gold earned, and better performance in every game mode. The Anime Squadron perks guide recommends maxing it before any other perk.

How much Gold does it take to max all perks?

Maxing every perk requires approximately 250,000 Gold or more. This is a long-term goal that takes weeks of consistent farming. The Anime Squadron perks priority system helps you spend Gold where it matters most at each stage of your account.

Should I buy perks or craft gear first?

Invest in Maximum Yen levels 1-3 before spending Gold on gear crafting. Economy perks pay for themselves over time by improving every run you do. After your core economy perks are established, split your Gold between gear and remaining perks based on your immediate needs.

Do perks work in all game modes?

Yes. Perks are account-wide and apply in Story, Raids, Infinite Mode, and Boss Rush without exception. This universality is why the Anime Squadron perks guide emphasizes them as the highest-priority Gold investment. Check the Roblox game page for any mode-specific perk adjustments.
